July Young Men Calendar

July 1 - 7 pm Swimming Merit Badge at Dulany's Pool pick up at 8:30 pm
July 8 - 7 pm at Church, Get ready for week-long camp, backback check, paperwork check, parent permission slips must be on file.
July 12 - Adult Leadership meeting 8 am, Youth Presidencies meeting 9 am - at church.
July 13-18 - Boys Youth Camp-Wentworth Springs (Gerle Creek), Leave church 8 am. Monday, Return to church at noon on Saturday.
July 22 - YM/YW Combined Activity-Drag Strip, Leave church 5 pm, return 9 pm, bring sack lunch or money to buy snacks
July 25 - Wood project at Barrentines 8 am to 11 am
July 26 - Adult Leadership meeting 8 am, Youth Presidents-Ward Youth Committee 9 am, RS Room, 9:30 am BYC, Bishop's office
July 29 - 7 pm Swimming Merit Badge at Dulany's Pool pick up 8: 30 pm

Troop 959 Participates in Pancake Breakfast



The Georgetown Ward held its annual Father's Day Pancake Breakfast on June 20th. Troop 959 was in charge of the flag ceremony. The food was delicious and the cooks were talented.

Successful Camp Out




Troop 959's campout at the Bosches on June 20th was a great success. Seven boys and four adults attended. The scouts passed off fire-building, nature hike, wilderness survival merit badge requirements and camping merit badge requirements. The scouts spent their time hiking, building two lean-to's and eating smores.

Camp Winton Service Project a Success







Troop 959 spent 9 hours helping to prepare Camp Winton for Summer Camp this year. Our group of 7 performed monumental tasks including: bridge repair, road repair, road building, contruction clean-up, breakfast and lunch preparation and clean-up, masking preparation, wood piling, fire building, shed clean-up and tent set-up. All in all, it was a fun time for all. The troop left Georgetown ant 4 PM on June 5th and returened at 4 PM on June 6th. Thanks to one and all.

Eagle Scout Rank Achieved


A Court of Honor will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 to honor Chad Poulter who has reached the High Rank of Eagle Scout. It will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Georgetown Ward, located at 7280 Prospect Hill Road in Georgetown at 6 PM. All are invited to this fun-filled evening to honor this young man. Refreshments will be served.
